GEF Technologies Sdn. Bhd. traces its roots to 1960, when it was founded in the Klang Valley as Syarikat Weng Hin Electrical Works by Mr Cheong Kah Hin, one of Malaysia's earliest specialist motor rewinding workshops. Over nearly four decades the company built a reputation for rewinding low-voltage electrical machines, serving various industries across the region.
On 1 January 1999 the business was restructured into a private limited company under the name GEF Technologies Sdn. Bhd., with Ir. KT Cheong taking the helm as Managing Director. The restructure enabled the company to expand into the full-scope repair and servicing of high-voltage and large AC and DC motors, transformers, generator and alternator.
Today, GEF operates from its well-equipped Sungai Buloh workshop. The company holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, is a full member of the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT), and is also a certified service partner of ELIN Motoren GmbH, Shanghai Electric, and Sicme Motori in Malaysia.

B.Sc. (1st Class Hons.) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK. A Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) and Corporate Member of IEM with over four decades of experience. Career spans roles at GEC Electrical Projects Ltd. (UK), Guthrie Engineering, Amsteel Steel Mills (Head of Maintenance Engineering), Amalgamated Containers Berhad and National Consolidated Limited (General Manager).
Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK, specializing in motor drive design optimization. Also holds a Master of Engineering (1st Class Hons.) from the same institution. Industry experience includes roles at Siemens Mobility (UK), Airbus (Germany), and Rolls-Royce (UK, Norway, Singapore). As Technical Director, he oversees technical operations and ensures the highest standards of quality and efficiency in every project.
